Celebrating Our Young Achievers: Year 11 Students Triumph in Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award

In a proud moment for The John Roan School, ten remarkable Year 11 students were honoured in assembly with Silver Award certificates and badges for their outstanding achievements in the Duke of Edinburgh's Award programme. After dedicating several months to the rigorous demands of the Award, including volunteering, physical activities, skill development, and challenging navigation trips that concluded with a demanding 3-day and 2-night camping expedition, these students have emerged triumphant.

John Roan Students Shine at Model United Nations Conference

In a remarkable display of diplomacy and research prowess, two of our Year 9 students recently represented The John Roan School at the prestigious Model United Nations (MUN) High School Conference held at the London School of Economics (LSE). Participating in a forum that simulates the United Nations, our students engaged in high-level debates on the pressing issue of humanitarian aid in conflict zones, showcasing maturity and intellect well beyond their years.

Strike Action - 2 Days in July

Dear Parent/Carer

Re: Strike Action

As you are aware, the membership of the National Education Union (NEU) has voted to take industrial action in schools across the country. The continuation of this strike action is for two days in July: Wednesday 5th July and Friday 7th July. I am writing to give you as much notice as possible about the likely impact this will have on our school.

This is a very busy time of year and we are aiming to provide as much continuity of learning as possible, whilst needing to recognise that without a full staff team some things need to be cancelled or postponed.

Our view, at present, is that we will be able to keep the school open on these days for some students with the following arrangements in place:

A Level Results 2022

In a significant uplift since the last formal exams in 2019, 47% of A Level entries achieved A*-B grades and 71% of entries achieved A*-C grades. For Level 3 equivalent qualifications, 41% of entries achieved the highest marks of Distinction or Distinction*.
