As you will be aware, the membership of the National Education Union (NEU) have voted to take industrial action in schools across the country. This will take the form of strike action and the second in a series of days is due to take place on Thursday 2nd March. The industrial action is a result of a national dispute between the NEU and the government and is not specific to our school nor to United Learning. The overwhelming majority of schools locally and nationally will be impacted but each school will have different arrangements for students due to the number of members of its staff who are likely to strike.
We have been working closely with colleagues here to plan for the strikes so that we can minimise any disruption to our students’ education. Our current understanding is that some colleagues will be taking industrial action and we are thus planning for this accordingly.

As we begin to welcome students back into school, I am writing to you with information about how we will be running the Covid-19 Testing Programme at The John Roan School. Secondary school students and staff in every school across the country are being urged to have regular tests for Covid-19, so that we can minimise the risk of spreading the virus.
